Why You Won’t See “Made in the USA” on Every Nano Magic Product (Even Though We Really Could)
Why You Won’t See “Made in the USA” on Every Nano Magic Product (Even Though We Really Could)
Let’s get real for a sec.
You’ve probably seen brands slap “Made in the USA” on everything from ballpoint pens to beef jerky. True? Who actually knows? Is it mostly a marketing play? Unfortunately, more often than not, yes.
Don't get me wrong, we love this country. Nano Magic was born, brewed, bottled, and built right here in Metro Detroit. But if you’ve ever wondered why we don’t boldly print “Made in the USA” on every single one of our products, the answer’s simple:
We tell the truth.
The Real Deal
Some of our products actually are 100% made in the USA. Like, every single nano-bit.
Our Anti-Fog Dry Cloths, Lens and Screen Cleaner Wipes, and 2-in-1 Anti Fog + Lens Cleaner Wipes are pure homegrown magic.
- The formula? Cooked up in our lab in Metro Detroit.
- The cloth and packaging? Wisconsin and Maine.
- Manufacturing and shipping? Back home with us in Michigan.
We could throw a big ol’ “Made in USA” stamp (though now that I'm thinking more about it, I'd go with a 'MURICA MADE badge 😜) on those and call it a day, but we have to think about you and we aren't about to pull a magic cloak or blow smoke to hide the truth. See, we also make sprays and liquid nanocoatings. And liquids…get complicated.
Liquids Are a Little…Tricky
Here’s the breakdown:
- 6oz bottles: Currently come from Canada (but we’re working to move that to Pennsylvania, very soon).
- 1oz bottles: Still Canadian.
- 32oz bottles: Ohio (yea yea we're Michiganders. I know...I know)
- Labels and boxes: Printed in Ohio.
- Sprayers: Made in Chicago.
- 15mL glass bottles: Michigan
- Microfiber cloths and pouches: China.
So even though everything inside the bottle, the only stuff you really care about for performance, is formulated in Detroit, we’d be stretching the truth if we labeled it “Made in the USA.” And that’s just not our style.
Could We Game the System? Sure. But That’s Not Us.
Could we switch out every component just to earn a “Made in USA” badge? Technically, yes. But here’s the deal:
The bottles, sprayers, cloths, and pouches we source from outside the U.S. don’t make your lenses cleaner, clearer, or less foggy. They don’t enhance the performance. They’re just the carriers, the vessels, of the magic, not the magic itself.
We’re not sacrificing quality. We’re simply working with the suppliers we have access to. And for some of these components, U.S.-based options either don’t exist or can’t deliver at the scale, consistency, or cost we need. So yeah, we’re a bit pigeonholed, but as we see it it's not a bad thing.
So instead of playing the “check-the-box” labeling game and hoping no one notices, we’d rather be up front about it.
So What Do We Say?
We say: Formulated in Detroit
Because that’s our superpower.
We’re not just a cleaning company. We’re a science company and all of our formulas are born in our lab, here in the Motor City, where the magic happens. That’s where we test, tweak, trial, and perfect every drop, spray, wipe, and nano-coating.
So again, could we slap a feel-good label on the box? Sure. But we’d rather earn your trust than trick your eye. And quite honestly, FORMULATED is so on brand, we don't really want to say Made in...
It’s Not About the Label. It’s About the Legacy.
We’re building something bigger than a stamp. TRUST. That means giving it to you straight, even if it’s not the snazziest marketing line, though we think it is.
We’ll keep bringing more sourcing to the U.S. when we can, and you’ll be the first to hear about it when we do. Until then, we’ll keep formulating magic in Detroit, keeping our standards high, and telling the truth about every part of the process.
Because being really made in America starts with being really honest.
